Parks and recreation affect quality of life, youth opportunity, families, seniors, health, events, and community identity.
What Deltona Can Actually Control
The City directly owns, maintains, programs, and funds municipal parks and recreation facilities.
My Current Commitment
I will work to maintain existing parks well, measure actual use, and evaluate new facilities or programs against demand, operating cost, safety, and equitable access.
Proposed Actions
- Publish park maintenance and capital priorities.
- Use utilization and resident feedback when adding amenities.
- Explore partnerships before constructing duplicative facilities.
- Improve connections between parks, neighborhoods, and safe walking/biking routes where practical.
Research Still Needed
Park utilization, maintenance backlog, recreation programming, capital needs, operating costs, and resident demand.
